There are two spacing requirements for the Dek-Block® pier. The spacing along the support board and the spacing from support board to support board. The maximum spacing between blocks along the support board is 5 ft. from center to center. The spacing of the support board is dependent upon the type of surface/decking material that will be used.

Some building codes in hurricane zones require the use of tie-down kits with the Floating Foundation Deck System. Check with your local building official to determine the requirements in your area.

When used according to DekBrands' recommendations, the Floating Foundation Deck System conforms to all national and regional building codes when the deck is unattached from the house.

If you are planning on placing a hot tub on top of your Floating Foundation Deck System, you will need to make a simple modification.

When building a Floating Foundation Deck System, we recommend a maximum height of 60 inches. The 60" measurement is from the ground to the top of the decking.

You can hide the front row of Dek-Block® piers by moving the piers and the outside support board 7-1/2" back toward the next row (6" if using 5/4" or composite decking). Add a new outside "facia" board that is the same length as the support board. Use 6" - 2"x6" boards to connect the facia to the support board.
