TOPIC: removing soil under deck blocks

removing soil under deck blocks 1 Year, 5 Months ago
I wanted to confirm something about the deck blocks.

I put together my framing using the deck blocks but I see my floor will be to high and i don't want to build a ramp for it.

If I remove 4 inches of soil under the 4 corners where I placed my deck blocks and fill it in with 2 inches of gravel will this be okay to deal with the frost heave?
Or should I dig down further?

I live close to Buffalo NY

only 4 blocks. I'll assume that your shed floor is only 5 feet by 5 feet. You will need to dig the entire 5 foot x 5 foot area down. The problem is that you need to give water a place to go and just digging under the piers will still concentrate the water. you might consider also diggout outside the 5 foot x 5 foot area of your shed. This will give water a place to go.
