I have disassembled a 'splash deck' from a 21' pool (which I hope to reassemble on my 21' pool) by cutting the deck apart with a sawzall. The deck is in 7 sections, each one apx. 6' deep (the plans for your splash decks only go to 3') and apx. 6'-6.5' wide at the edge farthest from the pool (the edge with the railing on it). I cut the 4x4 posts at the point of the bottom of the 2x6 support beams that the deck boards rest on. My problem/question is this - Each section still has the 2x6 boards attached which the deck boards are attached to. So if I use this system, the deck boards would not be attached directly to the support frame 2x6's, but essentialy I would have 2x6's on top of 2x6's running perpendicular. Is this possible and structually sound for this deck pier system??? Thanks.
I'm not really following you. I am not understanding why the deck boards are not attached to the support frame. Any way you could sent a digital picture of what you have going on?
