Pool Deck Perpendicular 1 Year, 5 Months ago
I want to build a deck over my top rail of my pool as I am worried about it getting it damaged if kids were to walk on it. Anyhow seeing as I would need to cantilever over it I think I need to reverse the supports similar to this www.deckplans.com/deck-of-the-month-august-2003

The one question I have is how are the 2X6's in this photo supported:
www.deckplans.com//images/content/showca..._august_jones/16.jpg

It appears as if there are two on one 4X4 in V shape together -- is this allowed and similarly the one remaining where does should it tie to?

Thanks
Mark

Putting the decking over the coping is not something we recommend doing. You run the risk of overhanging the deck boards and making them weaker.

to answer your question about the framing board. yes. two support boards meet in a V formation over one post. That looks like a pretty good idea and should work without any problem. The other end of the board must have been cut at an angle to match the frame.
