2x6 for surface of pool deck 2 Years, 8 Months ago
Want to use the online plan for 16x16 above ground pool deck. Surface lumber is suggested treated 2x6. The guy at the lumber yard says we should use PT 5/4x6.

The plans would be significantly changed...needing more dek-blocks and wood.

Is treated 2x6 suitable and the best option here? I believe I read something about needing this size for weight purposes.

There will be lots of bare feet on this deck and I don't want to be concerned about splinters.

I'm fine with the 2x6 as long as it is satisfactory for walking on.

Thanks for your help with answering this.

2x6 should be fine for your deck. It s been my experience that a big cause of splintering is caused by a lack of deck maintenance program. When your deck is good and dry (this might take a while) apply a finish to your deck. This should help prevent splinters.
