TOPIC: Deck against oval pool
#5937
Deck against oval pool 1 Year ago
I am building a 16 x 30 deck to go right next to the long part of my oval pool. It will be 50" right next to the pool, but the hieght will vary across the distance of the deck. The question I have, is that the support legs for the pool stick out around 3 feet and are 3 feet tall. Do I need to put in the 2x4 supports on the row of support legs closest to the pool, or can I move that to the next row of supports away from the pool. Or can I just adjust the height so it doesn't hit the pool support arms?

Thanks

I'm having a hard time following you. Could you explain this further?

I decided a picture is worth a thousand words. See the support arms for the pool. Do I need to put the two by 4 support arms above those supports, or can I do it in the next row of deck blocks? The deck is going to be rectangular, so i will not be going around the circle of the pool. I will be going out 15 feet from the flat edge of the pool, and may extend the surface boards slightly closer to the pool as I square out the deck.

Try to work around the pools supports. Your should be able to get some diagonal supports around the pool supports. If you cannot then put the diagonal supports in the next group of Piers.

I ran into another snag, One of my beams rund right over my retaining wall. 2 questions-- Can I put a support block right on top of the reatining wall stones?

Can I cross brace over the wood retaining wall?

Thanks

You could move the blocks a little. As long as the blocks are no more than 5' apart you are alright. What spacing are you at right now.
