Clarification needed 2 Years, 9 Months ago  
I want to build a side pool deck but extend it from a 16 x 16 to a 16x 24. You suggested I modify plans for a 16 x 24 rectangular deck to a side pool deck. I keep reading to have no more than 5 feet between blocks but these plans call for 5 ' 6 " am I missing something?

All of the plans we have use spacing that is acceptable for the floating foundation deck system. Maximum spacing of 5 feet is a general rule of thumb we use for any one who wants to make their own modifications to plans themselves, and unless noted in a plan we do not recommend spanning more than 5'.

I'm wondering what is the reason for no more than 5' spacing between the blocks? 4x4 can support a lot of weight. For example my house deck is 10x10 with only 2 post (the other side is fixed to the house). I'm planning on building a 10x16 pool deck and I was only going to use 6 posts. Is it because the ground cant support the weight and it needs to be spread across more blocks?

You are correct the ground will fail before the wood does. That is the reason for number of blocks.
