Deckman, I realized this morning that I have my extensions for the facia cut at 12" vs. the 6" that the instructions say to cut. I have a book that shows how to build the floating deck and it suggests using 12" 2x6 to hide the blocks but the directions on here say 6"...........which is where the mix up occurred. I can reverse it with a little delay in my project but right now I have them set at 12" with the supports running perpendicular and surface boards parallel..........is it ok to leave these at 12" in your opinion or should I cut them in half and re-space the blocks ? Slight mistake and very fixable but I would like to keep them if I could without the deck falling apart....
You really shouldn't go over 6-8" with those extensions unsupported. You shouldn't have to move any Dek-Blocks, though, if you cut the extension back. The facia runs parallel to the support boards.
The Dek-Block piers along the 2x6 support boards can be set back 12" from the end of the 2x6 board.
