TOPIC: 4x4 supports

4x4 supports 1 Year, 10 Months ago
Hi,
I am planning to use the Dek-Blocks in an untraditional method. They will have the 4x4 supports, which will be about 2' long. The tops of the 4x4's will have "outriggers" on either side which will then attach to long rails (end-nailed into the outriggers). This will form a sort of shelf which will be a support for planters. (Eventually there will be walls which will enclose this area.) My question is that there is a lot of "slop" around the 4x4's. I was expecting a tighter fit. Is this a problem, or should I shim them or attach with adhesive for a more snug fit?

Thanks for your help.

I am not sure what you mean by out rigger. Could you explain this further?

Hi,
Sorry it's not clear from my description. I was trying to send you a sketch, but I can't figure out how to attach it here. Can you give me an address to sent it to?
