Do you think a 14' x 12' deck is large enough for a barbecue with a table and chairs for 6. I love this site and will be taking a stab at my first deck soon.

Yes. Thats a pretty good size for a deck. If you have a table and barbaque and you can determine if its a good size by laying out some extension cords or garden hoses in the shape of your deck. As far as size goes. an 8x8 is a good size for 2 people and a bbq. a 10x10 is an ok size for 4 people and a table. a 12 x 12 is probably the minimum size you will want to build a deck if you plan on spending a lot of time on it with a group of people. Anything bigger than 12x12 is a good size deck.
