I have space for a 4x8 deck. I have enough 2x8 pressure treated lumber to do it. Is it wise to use 2x8's or should I use the 2x6's that is the only option in the free deck plans? I would be using them horizonally instead of vertically.
thanks

It is possible to use 2x8 treated lumber instead of 2x6 treated lumber. The frame can easily be built with 2x8 treated lumber it the vertical position. Although its possible to use 2x8 treated lumber for the decking it is not recommended. 2x8 decking will not shed water as well as 2x6 decking and will over time cup.
