TOPIC: Kitchen Nook Over Deck

Kitchen Nook Over Deck 5 Years, 10 Months ago
I'm planning to build a 12x24 against my house. One area is a kitchen nook that juts out about 2 feet and extends about 13 feet across. The deck will be about 8 to 12 inches below the nook.

Options:
1) Bring the nook down to meet the deck and add some siding
2) Build the deck below and leave the open area.
3) Build a wooden storage area beneath the nook, maybe about 5 inches in from the edge of the nook, to offset it.

Which option do you think would be the best?

Thanks ...

The choice is up to you. They all sound like good, viable options. ...you can never have too much storage. Maybe somebody else out there will have an experience to share.

I added a link for Dek-Block spacing around a bay window (or nook, in your case)

Do you think it would look funny to leave it open beneath the nook? Would be about an 8 -12" space below, and we'd just build the deck all the way across below it.

Thanks...

I think you could build all the way across under it. Without seeing the space, maybe you could still use it for open storage or put some lighting of some kind under the nook to illuminate that area of the deck.
